Many of you have reached out to tell us about using our remote rehearsal techniques for your own chamber groups. Some of you have asked for help implementing them to teach your students. Thank you! We have loved hearing about your virtual rehearsing adventures!
For us, remote rehearsing started as a rehearsal tool because we live apart. As we’ve continued working within this medium, we’ve learned how to rehearse with more clarity, discover new benefits to virtual rehearsing, and codify these techniques as educational tools.
These developments have led us to create a Virtual Chamber Music Curriculum. We have taken our virtual rehearsal techniques and developed a system so that groups of all ages, levels, and locations can learn their favorite chamber works with nothing more than an electronic device and headphones. Since remote rehearsing is an innovative approach to learning chamber music, we have developed a system that we believe is equally fresh, creative, and exciting. And, we see great possibilities for this curriculum to stand alone as well as be used alongside in-person coachings and rehearsals. This past weekend, we ran a pilot virtual chamber music workshop with 8 chamber ensembles, and the feedback we received was positive and inspiring. In August, we will be using the curriculum at the PhoenixPhest Virtual Chamber Music Festival.
We are so excited about our remote rehearsing experiences that we want to extend our discoveries to the larger chamber music community.
